    Lando Norris gave the British crowd something to cheer about in a thrilling qualifying session at Silverstone, securing himself a P2 berth on the grid for Sunday’s British Grand Prix alongside pole-sitter Max Verstappen.

    Verstappen made it five poles in a row with another supreme performance around Silverstone, setting a pole lap of 1m 26.720s. But McLaren were the shock package in qualifying, the UK-based team coming to the fore to take P2 and P3 on the grid, Norris ahead of rookie team mate Oscar Piastri.

    While Verstappen made it five poles in a row, his team mate Sergio Perez failed to make it to Q3 for a fifth consecutive time, the Mexican out in Q1 and set to line up P16.
